This is a group Cycling Skills tuition class, there is a small fee of £5 for the class.
We will teach the following skills: (subject to timing and progress)
– understanding safety equipment and clothing including helmet
– carry out a simple bike check
– steer the bike properly and make it go where they want
– brake properly and smoothly, without skidding
– look all around while cycling
– control the bike with one hand
– cycle with consideration for other people including vulnerable pedestrians, dogs, etc
– react safely to emergencies and maintain control of the bike
All ages are welcome, we normally recommend from the age of 4 upwards. We aim for a ratio of one instructor to three / four learners.
The location of the class will be in Victoria Common, Church Road, Northfield.
Each participant will need a bike to take part in this course. We do not recommend the use of stabilisers for children as they are not the best way to help the child to learn the necessary skills. We request that children wear a helmet and strongly recommend that adults wear a helmet. Parents, siblings, spectators are welcome, all we ask is that any children attending who are not participating need to watch quietly so as not to cause a collision hazard.
Adults who wish to learn please click here.
*The £5 session fee is for the cycling tuition and to support the running costs of Cycle South Brum.
