Last week saw the first of 3, free eight week courses across 2019 and 2020 aimed at over 40s who are looking to improve their health. Participants will discover off-road green routes in the South Birmingham area, gain confidence in riding a bike and meet new people.
After so much rain over the last few weeks, we were (finally) blessed with a warm, dry Wednesday evening. First, we assessed the group’s cycling ability in a safe, off-road environment – then we were off! The ride took in the beautiful Cole Valley. It was a lovely evening for a ride – we even saw cygnets and a heron! The led bike rides will increase in distance each week, with participants gaining bike skills along the way. The routes will take in few small roads but will be mostly off-road using cycle paths and local parks.
Over 40s registered as a patient with Hall Green Health are eligible to take part in the Life Cyclers programme. There is still an opportunity to join the first course which will run every Wednesday 5.30-7.30pm until 31 July 2019.
The next courses will take place from:
8 September – 27 October 2019, Sundays, times tbc.
21 April – 9 June 2020. Tuesday, times tbc.
Don’t have a bike? No problem. We have a selection of bikes you can borrow for the sessions.
