Over the last six months a coalition of environmental organisations from across Birmingham have consulted the city’s residents on the local environmental issues that matter most to them in The Big Green Conversation.

On Friday 15 November 2019, Greener Birmingham, councillors (including Leader Cllr. Ian Ward), businesses and changemakers from across the city have gathered at Impact Hub Birmingham for the launch of the People’s Manifesto for Birmingham.

Secret Birmingham

We are currently working with theatre company C&T on a new environmental and heritage project across South Birmingham. With the Commonwealth Games coming to Birmingham in 2022, we look to use this project as a pilot for further ways to engage the public in accessing local cultural sites and organisations through sustainable means.

International Car Free Day – Climate Emergency Protest Cycle Ride

In June we were excited to hear that Birmingham would take part in International Car Free Day on Sunday 22 September. Aston Expressway would be closed to cars for 1 mile with events and activities celebrating Car Free Day. Unfortunately, this event has now been postponed to next Spring. We still wanted to mark the day in some way.

Life Cyclers

Life Cyclers is a new project we are undertaking with Hall Green Health Together with funding from Heart Research UK and Subway®.

Last week saw the first of 3, free eight week courses across 2019 and 2020 aimed at over 40s who are looking to improve their health. Participants will discover off-road green routes in the South Birmingham area, gain confidence in riding a bike and meet new people.
